Berkeley-Hill, superintendent of the European Hospital ( now known as the Central Institute of Psychiatry ( CIP ), established in 1918 ), was deeply concerned about the improvement of mental hospitals in those days . The sustained efforts of Berkeley-Hill helped to raise the standard of treatment and care and he also persuaded the government to change the term asylum to hospital in 1920.
